Tri-Valley Innovation Fair

Cal ACS returns to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA for some hands-on chemistry fun at the Tri-Valley Innovation Fair. We’ll join close to 100 other exhibitors as we welcome curious scientists of all ages.  They will learn about the 2025 Chemists Celebrate Earth Week theme, “Glaciers: Hot Topic, Cool Chemistry” as they observe the effect of glacier melting on sea level rise, and learn about the behavior of melting ice in fresh water versus salt water.  We’ll have plenty of Earth week souvenirs for them, including copies of Celebrating Chemistry (CCEW 2025 edition) and Periodic Table wallet cards.

As this is an all day event, we’re looking for additional volunteers take take a turn presenting these activities to our visitors.  If you’d like to join the fun, please contact Alex Madonik or Charlie Gluchoski!  We hope to see you there.

Western Regional Meeting 2025
Oct 25 – Oct 28 all-day

The Silicon Valley and California Sections of the American Chemical Society welcome you to the Western Regional Meeting (WRM)!

The theme “Building Bridges” represents the process of fostering cooperation and collaboration. This is particularly characteristic of the San Francisco Bay area, renowned worldwide as a hub for technology and innovation. There is a strong culture of interaction, with tech companies often investing in academic research and talent, while universities remain open to collaborations and partnerships with industry. This involves not just the basic transfer of knowledge, but also includes refining academic discoveries to align with industrial demands and standards.

Moreover, the Bay Area is characterized by a high concentration of venture capital and start-up companies, which are instrumental in helping to translate academic research into practical industrial applications. Additionally, the area hosts numerous tech-focused events and conferences that facilitate networking, discussions and collaborations between industry professionals and academic researchers. This vibrant ecosystem promotes the seamless transfer of knowledge and technology, making the San Francisco Bay Area a prime example of the theme in action.

The Bay Area is truly international because of its diverse population and strong ties with other communities across the globe. WRM 2025 will showcase these connections.

We look forward to welcoming you to WRM 2025, where scientists from the Western Region and beyond will gather to share their innovation while creating new connections! See you in San Jose, CA!
